One day over the summer our neighbor Ann asked if she could borrow my iron. She said she needed to put some patches in her yoga pants since she had set a goal to not buy clothes for a year. I was very impressed by this and as I've been pondering over resolutions for the the new year I have decided to take on the challenge as well. I expect this endeavor will force me to get more creative with the clothes I already have (and that John has!). It will help me identify those items I've been hanging on to that I'm just never going to wear again, which will force me to really clean house and get down to a good set of basics. And that, I hope, will point out where there are holes in my wardrobe, essentials I may be missing. Ideally I'd like to have more timeless staples, well thought out purchases that go with everything and any occasion, and fewer random trendy items that tend to be impulse buys. I think this one year clothes fast is going to help get me there.

The reason I'm mentioning this now, instead of around January 1st, is the hope that maybe someone will want to join me. I'm going to need a good friend to lean on during those weak moments when I'll want to break down and buy something "cause it's just so cute and it's on sale!!" So what do you say? Any takers? :)

I am currently in the situation where all of my clothes are literally falling off of me, so if I can find at least one pair of pants that will stay up on their own by the end of the month, I'll totally join you. :)
