youre a jerk, i know.

I remember as a kid discovering beef jerky, the classic road trip, boating, or camping treat. My dad would buy it at Costco in bulk and keep it in the unfinished part of the basement with the rest of our food storage. I liked to sneak down there sometimes and nibble on a few pieces. That was also where we kept the canned mandarin oranges, also bought in bulk. They were the small cans with pop tops, perfect for quenching the savory jerky induced thirst.

Over the summer the kids that I nanny had their first exposure to beef jerky. I guess they like it as much as I did because today Charlie (8) requested that I put it in his lunch everyday. "And make sure it's beef jerky, NOT turkey jerky!" he said.
